Due to its famed name and rising popularity, CBD had gained a lot of attention from the mass. Well, it can’t be blamed as CBD has shown promising results from its recent research and cases that have proven its claim. But what is CBD?

Technically speaking, CBD is a chemical extracted from a Cannabis Sativa plant, which is also widely known as marijuana or hemp. There are over 100+ chemicals, or what we call as cannabinoids, that are identified that can be extracted.

The two most common cannabinoids are the CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is one of the major chemicals that is in marijuana, although, this chemical is psychoactive, and any product that can be seen with THC is considered illegal.

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive which means it does not bring harm and does not make someone mentally disrupted.

There has been a lot of lists on how CBD can be used. Recently, there have been results that show that it can treat epilepsy.

It was also used to treat anxiety, depression, chronic pains, dystonia, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, and many more. But these uses still need a lot of research to be proven and be legalized.

So how does CBD work? CBD normally affects how the brain works. The exact science about this is not yet clear but CBD seems to prevent a part of the brain that handles pain, mood, mental function, and even appetite.

It prevents the breakdown of the brain’s chemical level and increases the level of it in the blood that seems to reduce psychotic symptoms that are associated with conditions such as schizophrenia. Other results have shown that it can also reduce a patient’s anxiety and depression.

Although it has shown some promising results, like any other medicine, CBD can also bring minor side effects that are commonly seen. However, side effects may differ depending on what CBD product you use, how much CBD you used, and if the CBD product is not suitable for you.

Side effects based on high-dose clinical trials

Even though there has been a lot of research about CBD, there is still no clinical evidence that it can either favor or oppose CBD. But one thing is for sure, from the recent studies, no severe side effects have even surfaced.

Currently, the most comprehensive results that are available are based on the FDA-approved CBD drug, namely Epidiolex. During clinical trials where patients between ages 2-18, the side effects they encounter are:

• Tiredness

• Decrease Appetite

• Gastrointestinal problems

For patients who were quickly raising the dosage they are prescribed, the side effects occur as early as the first week. But the side effects subsided when the dosage was stabilized and controlled. If you are still new on CBD and still trying to figure it out, you can either wait for a week for the result, lower your dosage, try a different product, or best, consult a doctor.

Side effects from low-quality CBD products

If you go to a clinic to acquire a prescription, normally the clinic would recommend high-quality and safe products that contain a rightful amount of CBD. This is to ensure that the product is right for you.

However, due to the popular demand and the great opportunity that CBD has offered, a lot of people are making products that are of low quality that brings a lot of risk to possible consumers.

In fact, when scientists have tested the said products, only a low number of 31% were correctly labeled, while the others are all fraud. These products which claim to be legit but are not can be dangerous and could offer different side effects.

The possible ingredients that can be found in those products are as follows:

• Pesticides

• High level of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

• Synthetic cannabinoids

• Bacteria

Oftentimes, these products don’t even have CBD in them and the labeling is all fake - in which case, you won’t feel any effects from the product you used.

There is still a lot to know about the possible side effects that you might gain from CBD. If you’re interested to use CBD on health care, you can check out this site.
