Simply Hooked is a new sustainable seafood restaurant based in New York City’s Lower East Side.

Founded by MasterChef Finalist, Chef Matthias Leuliette, and restaurateur Jason Linehan, Simply Hooked serves dishes made using only locally sourced, sustainably caught fish.

"We continue to create delicious tastes and will not settle for anything less than responsibly sourced, in season, fresh fish. We only work with forward thinking fisheries to ensure an honest product to complement our vision of continued diversity of species, so that future generations will not go without the best quality fish at their local Fish and Chip Shop," said Mathias Leuliette.

Menu of the restaurant is inspired by the culinary traditions of Ireland and the Basque Region of France. “The concept offers customers the opportunity to create their own experience by first, selecting a regionally sourced, sustainably caught fish and then choosing their preferred coating - from the classic Tempura finish to a spicy Wasabi crust.”

To show its commitment to reducing plastic footprint, Simply Hooked serves only marine degradable paper straws and compostable take-away containers.

In addition, Simply Hooked partnered with Lonely Whale Foundation to educate customers of the restaurant on ocean health issues.

"Our decision to partner with Simply Hooked is grounded in Lonely Whale Foundation's mission statement of "radical collaboration." We also believe that working with businesses who are committed to demonstrating sustainable leadership is key in promoting conscious consumerism. We're excited to be Simply Hooked's nonprofit partner and to also help share critical ocean health information with their clientele so that we may empower consumers and, hopefully, build a new cohort of ocean advocates," explained Dune Ives, executive Director of Lonely Whale Foundation.

Simply Hooked will publish educational materials on its website to ensure that its customers understand how consumption behavior impacts health of the ocean.

Restaurateur Jason Linehan said, “This is the key reason Simply Hooked partnered with the Lonely Whale Foundation, so no matter where you shop, you're empowered to take informed action.”

For every dish served, Simply Hooked donates money to Lonely Whale education initiative. Therefore, customers are asked to roundup their check or make a direct donation to support foundation, which is on mission to promote conscious consumerism to conserve our oceans.
