New fire-retardant standards in the United States were introduced in 2007. Currently, most manufacturers of traditional mattresses are meeting these national safety requirements and standards by heavily spraying their mattresses with toxic chemicals used as fire retardants.

 

These toxic chemicals can make your sleeping space more dangerous than restful. Non-organic manufacturers are not required to disclose these chemicals, despite using 8 times more than any other first-world western countries.
